Inspired by The Block 2020 – Week 1 Guest Bedroom Reveals

What we have been waiting for all year, is finally here – The Block 2020 has kicked off! Fabulous bedrooms full of colour have been revealed. We are loving the bold and bright choices. Here is our take on the trends we have seen so far.

Trend: Orange

Burnt and bright orange was definitely the star of the show! Luke & Jasmin, Harry & Tash, Sarah & George all used this colour in their bedding. And we anticipate that we will see more throughout the season! It pairs beautifully with deep blue, forest green, soft pinks or even mustard shades. Whether you want to make a statement with a burnt orange bedhead or tip your toe in with an accent cushion, this trend will be around for a while.

Trend: Vintage charm

Most contestants have honoured the period of the home with vintage touches. Without feeling overwhelming, they have brought together modern trends and bold colours to work beautifully with items that would have featured in the original home. Wrought-iron look wall sconce, grand chandeliers, jacquard print cushions, plenty of velvet and of course the panelled bedhead. We love how these features add character and a homely touch without feeling like you’ve stepped back 100 years!

Trend: A touch of gold

Brass was likely featured in the original home as a sign of wealth and status. Now we use gold-look and brass to add a warm luxurious feel. Daniel & Jade used gold in their choice of a statement bedside table. Harry & Tash added a subtle touch with their modern lamp. The trick when selecting gold-look décor items is to choose a shade of gold that is warm and deep. This makes it look more ‘real’ (and more expensive!).
